Visit CFMS

CFMS is open to drop-in visitation during banding days—we love sharing our work with visitors of all ages and backgrounds! Banding is weather-dependent, and the schedule is subject to change. If you have any questions about our operating schedule or visitation, call us at (907) 888-2121 or email the CFMS Program Director at asi.science@aksongbird.org.

Banding Schedule 2026:

Spring: Weekdays, April 27-June 5, 7:00 AM open to 12:00 PM close.

Fall: Daily from August 1-September 11; weekdays from September 14-September 24.

Nets are operated for six hours daily in the fall. Opening and closing hours get later as the season progresses; in early August we open at 6:00 AM and close at 12:00 PM, and by late September we open at 7:30 AM and close at 1:30 PM.

Visitation guidelines:

Our banding team is always happy to welcome visitors, but note that the amount of time we have to engage with visitors may be dependent on bird activity and other demands—please consider our tour offerings for a visitor experience catered to your interests. We also ask that groups of 5 or more call ahead to schedule a visit, so we can best accommodate you. For bird safety, we request that visitors don’t bring dogs/pets to the station, and ask before taking pictures.

Tours:

For individuals and groups interested in an in-depth, “behind-the-scenes” visit to Creamer’s Field Migration Station, we offer guided morning tours (approximately 90 minutes in length) during banding season. Tours cost $60 for groups of up to six individuals; please let us know if you wish to visit with a larger group and we can arrange pricing accordingly.

To schedule a tour, contact us: outreach@aksongbird.org or 907-888-2121.
