Boreal Chickadee
Poecile hudsonicus
Description
As their name suggests, Boreal Chickadees are only found in the far north. They are year-round residents of Canadian and Alaskan boreal forest. You can find them as far north trees are able to grow. Boreal Chickadees are much more difficult to spot than their more ubiquitous relatives, Black-capped Chickadees.
Boreal Chickadees are small birds. They have white breasts, and they are dark brown on top. They have reddish brown sides, grey and white cheeks, black chins, and chestnut brown caps. Like Black-capped Chickadees, they have grey wings with white edgings.
