Alaska’s birds need YOU!

ASI is a community-based organization, and our volunteers make it all happen.There are many opportunities to help, from “picking” birds from mist nets, to data entry, to event planning, serving on an advisory committee, and more. We have opportunities for people of all ages, and with a diversity of skill sets.   1. Help with Field Work: Volunteers make the Creamer’s Field Migration Station possible. Help is needed during spring & fall migration (April, May, August, & September). Volunteers open and close mist nets, retrieve & identify birds, record & enter data, educate visitors, and more. No experience is necessary; training is provided. Follow the link for details.
  2. Youth Volunteers: Youth and teens can volunteer on our Swallow Ecology Project through our High School Internship Program (ages 14-18) and our Youth Mentoring Program (ages 10-14). Follow the links for details.
  3. Citizen Science: Help ASI track local bird populations by participating in Fairbanks FeederCount and Birds ‘n’ Bogs North. 
  4. Advisory Committees and Board of Directors: ASI currently has openings on each of our four Advisory Committees and our Board of Directors. Contact us for details!
