These committees are designed to provide ASI staff and Board of Directors with specific expertise, creativity, and ideas in essential fields. Committee members serve in an advisory capacity only and thus do not have the same rights or responsibilities as board members.

Research & Science Committee

  • To assist with the development and monitoring of ASI research goals;
  • Assist with the development and assessment of current and future research projects;
  • Edit reports, manuscripts, and popular literature;
  • Assist with funding ASI research projects; and
  • Help to build collaborative relationships to support ASI research goals.

 

Events Committee

  • To assist with the development and implementation of creative fundraising strategies to reach a diversity of potential supporters.
  • Skills sought: Creativity, time, & enthusiasm for helping to raise unrestricted funds for ASI!

 

Finance Committee

  • To review and advise on best practices for ASI’s financial procedures, actions, and products including but not limited to audits, IRS form 990, financial reports, and tax filing.
  • Skills Sought: finance & accounting experience (especially in nonprofit sector); ability to translate financial information and concepts for the Board of Directors; ability and desire to provide financial leadership (i.e. researching financial options, setting long term goals, etc.)

 

Education & Outreach Committee

  • To assist with the development and assessment of ASI education & outreach projects and goals;
  • Develop and assist with creative communication & outreach strategies to reach a diversity of people; and
  • Help to build collaborative relationships to support ASI educational goals.
  • Skills sought: Knowledge of and enthusiasm for best practices in conservation education and outreach strategies; time and energy to contribute to ASI’s educational programs
